**Weather News for Kids**
Hey kids! Here’s some fun weather news! For the rest of July, there will be fewer rainy days, but keep your umbrella close because it might still rain sometimes.
In the mornings, we might have big thunderstorms with strong winds because of something called Sumatra squalls, says the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS).
The second half of July should be drier than the first half, except for some short thunderstorms in the afternoons.
We’re in the south-west monsoon season, so the winds are mostly coming from the south-east or south-west, but sometimes they might come from the west. This weather will stick around until September.
Most days, the temperature will be between 33°C and 34°C. Some nights will be warm and humid, with temperatures over 28°C, especially in the south-eastern parts of the island.
In the first half of July, it wasn’t as warm as in June. Only one day was hotter than 34°C. On July 12, thunderstorms made it cooler, with the lowest temperature at 21.4°C in Paya Lebar.
Rainfall was different in various places. In Somerset, it was 79% below the average, while in Paya Lebar, it was 82% above the average.
